Step 1. Click the Apple menu () in the top-left corner and select System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
Step 2. In the sidebar, click Screen Time.
Step 3(OPTIONAL). To prevent children from changing settings, click Options in the bottom-left corner and set a passcode.
Step 4. In the Screen Time settings, select Content & Privacy.
Step 5. Toggle on Content & Privacy Restrictions.
Step 6. Click App Store, Media, Web, & Games
Step 7: Choose Web Filtering Options
- Unrestricted Access:
- This allows access to all websites (not recommended for children).
- Limit Adult Websites:
- Select this option to automatically block adult websites. You can manually add websites to block or allow under this setting.
- To Block Specific Websites:
- Click Customize under "Limit Adult Websites."
- In the Never Allow section, click the + button and enter the website URL (e.g.,
www.example.com
).
- To Allow Specific Websites:
- Add them to the Always Allow section.
- To Block Specific Websites:
- Select this option to automatically block adult websites. You can manually add websites to block or allow under this setting.
- Allowed Websites Only:
- Choose this option to restrict access to a specific list of websites.
- Click Customize to add websites to the allowed list.
- Choose this option to restrict access to a specific list of websites.
Step 8: Open Safari and try accessing a blocked website to ensure the restrictions are working. You will see a message stating the website is blocked. You can enter the Screen Time passcode to bypass the block if needed.
Step 9: Adjust or Review Settings (Optional)
- Periodically check Screen Time Reports to see which websites have been accessed.
- Go to Screen Time > App & Website Activity to view detailed browsing activity.
- Update the list of blocked or allowed websites as needed.
