Use Open Broadcasting System

Step 1. Navigate to obsproject.com

Step 2. Click the 'Windows' or 'MacOS' option to download a file for OBS

Step 3. A file should now launch when it is done loading please click on it




Step 4. On the prompt labeled 'Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?' click 'Yes' to allow the installation of OBS

Step 5. On the 'OBS Studio 29.0 Setup' screen click Next> Next>Please select your destination folder and make note of it by clicking 'Browse' 



Step 6. Click 'Install'


Step 7. Once its done loading make sure the box labeled 'Launch OBS Studio 29.0' or similar version number  is check marked and click 'Finish' 

Step 8. OBS should now launch and you can click the 'Close' button

Step 9. On the OBS application select 'Settings'


Step 10. On the left hand side of the settings menu screen select 'Output'

Step 11. On the right hand side next to 'Recording Path' make sure the path is a place you recognize this will ensure your video is processed in to the correct place on the computer. You can edit the path by clicking 'Browse' 


Step 12. On the right hand side next to 'Recording Format' make sure the Format is 'mp4' this will ensure your video is processes as a 'mp4' you can change the format by clicking the arrows 


Step 13. Click 'Apply' in the lower right hand corner. The Settings window should close

Step 14. Back on the OBS main page click the '+' button to add a webcam or audio input 

Step 15. Select the correct input 'Audio Input Capture' for voice input on a recording and 'Video Capture Device' for video input on a recording. 

Step 16. Name the input whatever you would like then press 'Ok'

Step 17. Make sure your select the correct audio and video input devices for the sources. then press 'Ok' 

Step 18.  You can adjust how big your webcam or the display you are showing is by dragging the edges of the screen:


Step 19. Once you are satisfied with your audio and video settings select 'Start Recording'

Step 20. You can track how loud you are being under the 'Audio Mixer' and how high the bar lights up. 

Step 21. When you are done recording hit 'Stop Recording' 

Step 22. In a moment you should find your mp4 recording at the place you specified it should be set to in Step 11.

Step 23. Once you have verified your recording is in the correct place. Navigate to your Canvas course the assignment is located in. 

Step 24.  In your Canvas course please find the assignment you need to do the audio recording for. (You find it under 'Assignments' or 'Modules')

Step 25. Once you find the assignment click in to it and click 'Start Assignment' 


Step 26. In the mini orange menu click 'File Upload' then click 'Choose File' and find the file you want to upload 


Step 27. Once your assignment is uploaded click 'Submit Assignment'
